Latvian Association of Private Investors Announces Co-operation with Russian National Association of Business Angels The Latvian Association of Private Investors is pleased to announce the establishment of co-operation with the Russian National Association of Business Angels. At a meeting in Latvia, representatives of the two organisations talked about their work, goals and missions so as to determine what types of co-operation are possible.
"The Latvian Association of Private Investors (LPIA) brings together businesspeople and business angels with the goal of seeking out new and promising business projects as investment targets within which angels can help with development. We do not wish to limit our operations in the Latvian market, and that's why we're pursuing co-operation with a fellow organisation in Russia. International co-operation and exchanges of experience promote our development, and it is of key importance today to be involved in the global network, including Russia and the CIS," explains LPIA board chairwoman Aiva Vīksna.
The Russian National Association of Business Angels will organise a forum in mid-September at which the LPIA is planning to present itself. The aim is to integrate Russian business angels into the international community of such angels. Experiences will be exchanged with foreign colleagues, co-operation will be established with national business angel associations, and opportunities for training will be discussed, as well. The Latvian Association of Private Investors The Latvian Association of Private Investors was established in January 2007, and its membership at this time is made up of seven investors. Private investors or business angels are individuals, mostly businesspeople, who undertake substantial risk by investing capital in companies before they receive funding from banks or risk capital funds. Along with financial investments, business angels also offer the help of experienced experts, along with contacts and consultations which the businessperson could not obtain otherwise. The Russian National Association of Business Angels The Russian National Association of Business Angels was established as a non-commercial partnership in October 2006. It brings together individuals and legal entities - private and institutional investors which place investments in innovative and high-tech companies.
